Join us for the 2018 Joint Annual Conference in Utah!

Dear brothers and sisters, siblings of the Mountain Sky Area,

This is a call to conference for the people called United Methodist of the Mountain Sky Area! This year, we will gather June 7-10, 2018 in Ogden, Utah. This will be the first time the Yellowstone and Rocky Mountain annual conferences will be coming together for an annual conference session.

A planning team from both conferences has been hard at work to ensure that traditions and cultures are honored and introduced to each other as we also create a new thing together. Our time will focus on four areas of engagement: worship, service, study, and fellowship. I believe that this is at the core of why John Wesley called for an annual meeting. It is a time to reflect and renew our souls as we ask each other, “And are we yet alive?”

During our time together, we will “Draw the circle wide.” Like any family reunion, we will renew old relationships and discover new ones. We will celebrate the oneness we experience through Jesus Christ and revive our souls through passionate worship.

We will be doing important work as we receive the Mission Shaped Future proposal for the formal creation of the Mountain Sky Conference. While we have informally been working across our conference lines, this will be a historic conference as we strengthen our relationship together through the creation of a new annual conference legal entity. This offers us a clarity of mission and purpose to assist in supporting vital congregations throughout our area.

Truly, we are stronger together than we are separate. The scriptures remind us of this over and over again. In Ogden, we will experience power and beauty as the Body of Christ gathers and takes shape through our participation together.

I recognize the extra effort it will take for many to be present in Ogden. My covenant with you is to assure our time together will be spiritually rich and valuable. So many people are working hard to make this a most memorable time together.
