Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint the Reverend Marvin Vose to be Interim District Superintendent for the Utah/Western Colorado District, effective July 1, 2016. Marv will follow Rev. Sione Tukutau, the current Superintendent for Utah/Western Colorado, who will be appointed to First United Methodist Church in Greeley, Colorado, effective July 1, 2016.

Rev. Marv VoseMarv has served nine years as a district superintendent: five years in the Peaks & Plains District and four years in the Sunshine District, now called the Trinity District. He retired from active ministry in 2014, but eagerly agreed to return from his retirement wanderings to settle in Salt Lake City.

Bishop Stanovsky said, "Marv brings a pastor’s heart, and a clear mind to superintendency."

"It's a challenging ministry," Marv said about being a district superintendent. "I really do enjoy it, especially the people I work with. It all builds up the kingdom."

Marv said he was surprised by the appointment, and added that being a district superintendent twice is a rare thing, so to be asked a third time is a new level.

Nonetheless, Marv said he's "looking forward to working on the vital ministries" for the Utah/Western Colorado District. "It's always been my priority," he added, "and I hope and pray to continue that."

Marv was ordained an elder in full connection with the Rocky Mountain Conference in 1982. He began his ministry at Fort Morgan UMC as associate pastor in 1981 and served as senior pastor for Julesburg/Ovid, Central, and Sunrise UMCs. He retired in 2014.
